Edwin’s Week 7 Mythic Power Rankings
7th - RLS [+/-]
RLS’s record means they’re out of playoff contention. Needless to say, RLS PenguSoldier had a good performance this last week. As the season starts to conclude, RLS has looked more “together” in their plays, attempting to pull off three or four-man plays in this competitive format. With Season 4 in the talks, RLS can attempt to enter the series again with this newfound experience that most new teams won’t have.
6th - ACE [-1]
ACE is weird to judge this week. They had a poor performance against HBK on the first day of Week 6, but a good performance against RLS. They definitely looked more in sync with each other in the RLS match, and that game included a full roster-switch from what we’re used to from ACE. Moving forward, I’m not convinced that ACE’s “solo queue” style can beat teams in the playoffs. But this new roster can look promising, so I’m ready to be proven wrong.
5th - HBK [+1]
HBK had a good showing against ACE, showcasing that they can play the mid-to-late game well against them. With ACE being in such a poor state this season, it’s hard to tell if the result of that match was an upset or expected. That being said, their match against OOD showed promise as they continued to even up the scoreboard and gold lead. In the end, they lost that match, but 5th place seems like a solid place to put them after their performance last week.
4th - POG [-1]
POG displayed their individual prowess against RLS and TUB, but in their match against The Ugly Barnacles, they ended up losing out in the late game. It’s important to note that it still seems like there’s some roster situation going on with POG, so it’s hard to judge. That being said, despite everyone having good individual performances, it looks like their decision making after laning phase seems a bit jumbled. It may be due to the roster situation, but in their recent loses, it seems that’s where teams have been able to get their number.
3rd - OOD [+1]
OOD looks more confident in themselves than ever before. Slight mistakes would delay some of their wins, but OOD is currently on a four-game win-streak, with their last loss being against SGR Reborn. Bigtwig has received criticism in the past for being not up-to-par with the other mid-laners in the league, but recently, he’s shown immaculate improvement and trust in his team. OOD’s true test will be their final rematch against SGR, which may determine the 2nd Seed going into the playoffs.
2nd - TUB [-1]
TUB has been the frontrunner for nearly the entirety of this league, and even though they’ve still been winning, their loses against SGR and OOD showed a few weak spots. When TUB was behind in their games, they ended up making a few desperate attempts to bring themselves back in it. This might be how OOD and SGR were able to punish them so clearly in the late-game, and that might be the way teams can beat them in the playoffs.
1st - SGR [+1]
In case no one has noticed, SGR hasn’t lost a game in the second-half. They’re currently on a 6-game win streak with their last loss being only against TUB. I initially thought highly of SGR when the season first started, and I’m glad I’m being proven that they’re good. This team has been on fire. Every beat of every game they’ve played, this team has looked to immediately respond and counterplay anything their opponents would try to do. In their losses in the past, SGR was actually ahead for certain parts of the game, and simple throws would be the reason for their losses. It looks like SGR has cleaned up their play and they’re looking good going into the playoffs.
