Champion Red’s Week 2 Mythic Power Rankings

“Hello, my name is Champion Red. I am the Bot laner, co-captain, and coach for BBZ. I’m extremely excited to be doing weekly Mythic League rankings for this season. This week was a crazy one for the Mythic league. There were bloodbaths in games I predicted to be one-sided, and vice versa. I’m going to hold off on making too many rash decisions when it comes to moving these teams around as 2 games is hardly enough of a sample size to accurately be able to rank these teams. As the season goes on I’ll be able to better hone in on the Mythic team’s strengths and weaknesses and be able to better place them as the tournament progresses.”

8th - RLS [+/-]
Despite having a close game against HBK I still believe RLS is most likely the 8th place team again this week. While I think they fought valiantly against their opponents this week, it still felt like there was a divide in terms of skill level compared to the rest of the league. Going forward I want this team to continue doing what they are currently doing. Neither of their games were the most lopsided matches of the week, and this team does have potential. As of writing this RLS seems to be the only Mythic team with a coach listed, and I am looking forward to them using this as an advantage.
7th - BABY [-2]
BABY was a hard team to place this week. After a rough week 1 against TUB and POG they are going to need to come together and improve going forward. Despite the one sided nature of the games they had in Week 1, they were up against my 4th and 2nd ranked teams. I do believe this team can push back into the top 5 or 6, but they are going to need to show improvement going forward.
6th - HBK [+1]
H-Block had an interesting week taking down SGR and RLS. I don’t really think the SGR game should have been a victory, with many issues coming from SGR’s side. On day 2 they managed to take down RLS, which was a bit of an expected outcome. I am moving them up in the rankings, but currently I want to see them play more games against higher ranked teams before I make a more drastic change. I’m looking forward to seeing this team play more games against the teams in the upper half of the bracket, so they can continue to show that they have what it takes to challenge the top.
5th - OOD [-2]
If I had to pick a team that was the most disappointing for week one, it would have to be OOD. With only having a 1-1 record this team took an expected win against RLS, and an unexpected loss against TUB. To me it seemed as if team OOD was just not on the same page yet, but their team is stacked with talent. I’m looking at All-Star bot laner, Photograph, to spearhead his team to victory.
4th - SGR [+3]
SGR is an odd team for me to place mainly due to the fact that they took down tournament favorites, ACE. You would think that this feat of strength would be enough to break this team into the top 3, but they will have to settle for 4th for now. Day 1 started off with a disappointing loss against HBK, but I do believe this was mainly due to draft and build mistakes from the team. SGR has clearly shown their players have what it takes to take on the top 3 teams of the league and will hopefully continue to do so going forward.
3rd - TUB [+1]
TUB had a breakout week defeating BABY and OOD for a good 2-0 start to their season. While I expected them to defeat BABY, they did it in a swift and efficient manner. Although their game against OOD was very close, they managed to take down the team that I initially had ranked higher than them. Despite having their star ADC, Krumpy, off-roled this team still looked fantastic and I’m excited to see them take on ACE and HBK this upcoming week.
2nd - POG [+/-]
For me, Poseidon Gaming had a rough day 1 and a stellar day 2. I was slightly disappointed in POG’s day 1 performance as I was hoping for a super close game or an upset. Unfortunately for POG this was not the case; however, with a quick mental reset they came back day 2 and had a killer performance. Whether it was first day jitters or some other issue, I’m looking forward to what this team can do given more time to grow together.
1st - ACE [+/-]
Team A-Click had a turbulent week, going 1-1 as the expected favorite for the tournament. I’m currently leaving them in first due to the fact that they beat POG and they are still, in my opinion, the best team in the league. There did seem to be some communication lapses in their game against SGR, but only time will tell if this was a one-off occurrence or a recurring issue for this squad.
