Meet the FFS3 Heroic Playoff Teams
With playoffs at our doorstep, let’s take a look at the final six teams entering the bracket stage in our FFS3 Heroic League.
Team Sword [SWO] - 6th Seed
Team Sword was one of the four teams entering our League for the first time. During the Qualifiers, Sword lost to BBZ on the first day, and to YUBI on the second. Their final game against Team Year-Up, FFS2’s Quarterfinalists, determined whether or not they would get to play this season. Thankfully for them, it all clicked when it mattered most and they were just barely able to make it in.
SWO’s early season looked shaky at first, but a few wins against their sister team and some of the lower teams would grant their entry into the final stage. Their opponent will be determined by the outcome of INT versus FEC, both of which have 2-0 records against SWO. All our eyes will be on how this team’s integrated their new mid-jungle duo during the break week.
Congratulations to SWO FixYourFarT for graduating college!
Team Spear [SPE] - 5th Seed
Coach ShieldedValor (ex-BBZ Top Laner) moved on to run his own team after playing for two full seasons. Rumors of their scrim results and the strength of their roster bled through the cracks before the season started. During the Qualifier Round, a Best-of-Three against YUP played all the way to Game 3 ended up bringing SPE into our Friend or Foe family.
SPE had a shaky start, but their ability to keep games close against some of the top teams made them worthy for playoffs. The loser of YUBI versus BBZ will have to play against SPE for their last chance to stay alive in the tournament. Considering that Spear has surprisingly been the “kryptonite” to BBZ, their best hope is for the most-likely scenario to occur. If YUBI knocks down BBZ, there’s a high chance that SPE could push forward in the bracket.
Congratulations to SPE BigBrain and the Class of 2021 for graduating High School!
Blue Bayou Zoo [BBZ] - 4th Seed
Blue Bayou Zoo is a long-running member of the FoF family, dating all the way back to Season 1. Although most of the original players are gone, BBZ Songo joined up with S2’s Disabled Ducks Mid Laner, Lyhtz, to continue the legacy. During the Qualifier Round, BBZ was able to sweep Team Sword 2-0.
BBZ had a strong start to their season, ending the first half 5-2. However, a sloppy second half would push BBZ’s seeding down to 4th. Although it keeps them in the Winner’s Bracket, BBZ’s slump is a concern. Their Round 1 match will be against the nearly undefeated team, YUBI. All odds are against them, but an upset here could shake the entire bracket. Moving forward, all eyes are on how BBZ can recollect themselves and fight back in the playoffs.
Congratulations to BBZ Songo for graduating college and BBZ Lyhtz for graduating Middle School!
Team In the Trees [INT] - 3rd Seed
Our Season 2 Champions return for another run at the Friend or Foe Championship. INT was one of the few teams that didn’t have to participate in the Qualifying Round due to their placement in the previous season. That being said, being on top means that you’re the number one target to bring down. INT was our season’s “benchmark” when it comes to team strength. If you can take down INT, you deserve to be here.
Despite being former champions, INT had struggled against some of the top teams throughout FFS3. Although the eligibility restrictions were bumped up for this new season, it took a little bit of time for INT to catch up with the rest of the league. Both INT and their opponents, FEC, ended the season with the same record, so we can be sure to expect close games right off the bat.
Congratulations to INT Popovai for his acceptance to Cal Tech!
Falcons Esports [FEC] - 2nd Seed
Falcons Esports won out the tiebreaker between them and INT for side-selection in the first round of Playoffs. Despite YUBI’s dominance during the season, FEC was able to take them down 2-0 during the Qualifier Round. The matches were close, but FEC’s late-game decision making made them look like a force to be reckoned with going into the regular season.
FEC had a rough start to the season due to a difficult opening schedule, but as the season progressed, it looks like FEC was able to click early and take the wins necessary to secure 2nd seed. Their Round 1 opponents are FFS2 Champions, INT. Since they just barely hold a positive record against them, FEC will be looking to show that they’ve solidified their teamplay during the break week and prove that they can take down these former champions in a Best-of-Three.
Congratulations to FEC BeshyWap, CamelBasil, HAPHS, WildWestWild, RawBlaster, and the Class of 2021 for graduating High School!
Yuumiversal Basic Income [YUBI] - 1st Seed
YUBI was one of the four new teams that entered FFS3. Their first round in the Qualifier didn’t go the direction they wanted, losing to FEC 0-2 on Day 1. In Day 2 however, YUBI was able to beat out YUP and SWO to secure their spot in the season. Considering their results in the Qualifiers, most teams were likely caught off guard with YUBI’s sudden dominance in the league.
YUBI’s early season went as well as you could ask for, ending the season 13-1, an identical record to Season 1’s Champions, Team Atlas. With four out of five of YUBI’s members in the Top 10 KDA Leaderboard, this team is obviously the favorite to win the whole thing. Their first round matchup is against Blue Bayou Zoo, the fourth seed entering the playoffs. Will YUBI continue their dominance and prove to be the best team in the league?
