“Hello everyone, and welcome to even more Helios Power Rankings with Utility Monster and JeffGodGamer. We were hoping the ones we did last week would be sufficient, but our readers’ desire for new content is too insatiable.
We’re in the final stretch of the regular season, with 3 weeks left before playoffs. This is do or die time for a lot of teams, as the bottom half fights over the last playoff spots, and the top half fights over a coveted first round bye. Standings are starting to come into focus, but there’s still a lot of League of Legends left to play, and we can’t count out anyone yet.
This week’s bonus content is ADC position rankings. We’ve done a writeup for each team’s bot laner in the power rankings themselves, and we spent way too much time doing it so please read it. However, for the illiterates among you, Jeff has kindly provided this handy D&D alignment chart as a cheat sheet. Enjoy!”
- Utility Monster
8th - STC [+/-]
It’s a tough task to have a new team play two of the top three teams in their first week, so the end result for Super Toxic Children Seal Team Chris can’t come as a huge surprise. This week gives them potentially their best chance for a win all season, as they face GURL on Thursday. Both teams will be hungry for victory, so it will be a must watch game for all spectators.
ADC Ranking: 6th. Gohan didn’t look like the problem in his team’s losses, but there’s a limit to how good one can look while losing. We think he’ll continue to be a bright spot in this team’s future games.
7th - GURL [+/-]
Week five will be huge for GURL’s season, as they play both STC and CFG. Going winless would make us very bearish on their chances of getting another win for the rest of the season, as they play exclusively teams in the top half of the league over the last two weeks. GURL has unfortunately looked outclassed in most of their games, so we hope they’ve put in some practice recently and put up a good performance this week.
ADC Ranking: 8th. Someone had to be the worst, and we’re giving the award to Stoveisdieded. GURL’s bot lane has looked to be the weak link on a weak team, which is not a good sign. However, do remember: your worth as a person is inversely proportional to your League of Legends skill, since it means you spent more time doing things that are worthwhile.
6th - CFG [+/-]
CFG is the highest variance bottom half team, which can actually be a good thing. If your average level of play is slightly lower than other teams, being a consistent team won’t help you steal many wins. Their midgame macro is also quite solid in even games, which is rare even for the top teams. They do seem to lack a little bit of individual skill, especially when trying to show restraint and farm from slightly behind, but we’re hopeful that CFG is good enough that the top teams will need to take them seriously come playoffs. That said, CFG’s low lows don’t permit us to put them higher in the rankings.
ADC Ranking: 5th. Sadiśt is the primary teamfight carry in his team’s wins, and deserves the resources he’s given. While he is often set up for that success by the rest of his team, his ability to execute given an edge is respectable. His builds often look poorly thought out, though - they’re potentially the worst across both leagues for ADCs, and we think he could do more damage with the same gameplay with just more efficient shopping. That can be indicative of a lack of understanding and game knowledge more generally, which is limiting Sadiśt’s individual ranking here.
5th - PTP [+/-]
PTP started off strong, but hasn’t been able to recreate the magic since the first couple weeks. It’s possible that their experience and team cohesion coming in gave them an initial advantage over the competition, but it wasn’t sustainable over the entire season. Some recent roster changes may provide them the spark needed to pick up some more wins, but we think PTP has found their ceiling. They’re not a team you can overlook completely, but they deserve their .500 record. We have appreciated that PTP’s wins have come out of good macro play more than individual outplays, which is a more stable foundation for improvement over time, but we think that improvement will be too slow to help them this season.
ADC Ranking: 7th. Frankly, the ADC pool is pretty close in skill for the most part, so PTP’s carry could be realistically ranked a little higher. That said, we’ve been more impressed by the players on other teams, and we feel PTP’s bot lane is often just along for the ride in their games.
4th - RLS [-2]
RLS has struggled more than we expected this season, looking above average but rarely dominant. They did manage to hand REX their only loss in week one, but the rematch Thursday will tell us if it was a fluke or a legitimate sign of RLS’ skill ceiling. Last week concluded a season sweep at the hands of TG, so RLS will surely be looking to bounce back. We think RLS is good enough to beat the top teams sometimes, but we aren’t sure if they’re good enough to be favored. That’s a great place to be for us as viewers, but RLS will want to show they’re capable of more consistency as the season wraps up.
ADC Ranking: 2nd. Escape is quite good; he tends to win lanes and just does his job in teamfights. His teamfighting damage output could be better, since he doesn’t seem to make many game changing plays like you’d expect out of such a good laning player, but being consistently good is enough for us to rate him highly in the league.
3rd - TG [+1]
Here we go again, hyping up a mid season mid lane roster swap. New mid laner Tien has really made TG come alive, with four convincing wins in a row. Antoons has enabled Irontower to do more than ever before, and ShieldedValor has been a stable teamfighting player in the top lane. Oriri has made the swap to jungle from support fairly gracefully as well. We’re still not completely convinced, since they haven’t played a top team since making the changes (some flame intended, RLS), but this week should finally give us the data we need, with matches against the top two teams in the league, INT and REX. Can these teams show ShieldedValor, or will we be forced to admit TG is the real deal next week? We’ll find out.
ADC Ranking: 3rd. IronTower is a great teamfighter, but we’re not sold on his laning. Getting damage done in fights despite not having a gold advantage is a useful skill, but just having more gold can be more useful at times. Still, new support Antoons has been very good at covering for those potential weaknesses recently, so maybe we’re underrating Irontower’s full potential.
2nd - INT [+1]
INT seems like a team that will brute force through their opponents, but lose when their opponents can match them individually. Luckily for INT, their raw individual talent is enough to propel them to a lot of wins. We think they’re still the second best team in the league, but they’ll have a hard time beating REX, TG, and RLS without massive early leads. That’s easier said than done, though, and INT has shown they will outplay anyone on their day. Playoffs are also a different beast, and INT has a lot of experience there, so it’s hard to bet against them making a deep run.
ADC Ranking: 4th. Kenny Hammerspike is a serviceable carry, but we think he often looks better than he is due to how well his team sets him up for success, and sometimes he isn’t able to carry even when given sufficient resources. He’s still solidly above average, just not any more than that.
1st - REX [+/-]
REX has really come into their own as a team, and it’s hard to imagine anyone beating them on their best day. That said, they aren’t invincible, and we haven’t seen how they’ll perform in an extended season or in a best-of series. Fatigue, boredom, overconfidence, or even just small individual underperformances can be enough to tilt the scales in favor of other teams, so REX still have more to prove.
ADC Ranking: 1st. It is with great regret that we add to AlkBattery’s ego, but his performances this season have been head and shoulders the best of all the bot lane carries in Helios. Hopefully he doesn’t get dandruff, but if he does at least he isn’t using 2-in-1 shampoo.
